Fresh out of school I qualified as a Chef de Partie from Christina Martin School of Food and Wine in Durban. I was as green as they come, but what I lacked in experience I made up for with eagerness, discipline and the ability to stand on my feet for 12 hours straight.
For the next 18 years I worked my way around South Africa in hotels and restaurants and finally found my niche in boutique hotels. After children, the long hours and hard physical labour of a professional kitchen lost its appeal, but I never lost my love of food and cooking and the much needed creative outlet it gave me.
I turned to recipe development and food styling and have spent the last four years learning as much as I can about this craft. I write my own blog, Pomegranate Days, and I love working with clients to create new recipes and together with photographer Kate Phillips, create beautiful images to showcase the recipes.
I hold a Bachelors of Art in English and English Literature, and the online world has become a place where my love of writing has merged beautifully with my love of food and I write weekly food articles for an online food website.
